TL;DR: Yotpo shut SMSBump down on December 31, 2025, and it was pulled from the Shopify App Store in August 2026. If you are still on it, you are running a decommissioned platform. For most stores the best replacement is Postscript: transparent pricing from a $49 monthly minimum, Shopify-native, and the lightest of the options I measured at 90ms of blocking time. Attentive is for enterprise, Klaviyo if you want SMS and email in one, Omnisend if you want cheap. Here is the full comparison, speed and cost.
Yotpo announced its exit from email and SMS on August 5, 2025, and the product reached end of life at the close of the year. smsbump.com now serves a single “Product Decommissioned” banner. Yet StoreLeads still counted the app on 28,522 Shopify stores this month before it was removed from the App Store on August 23. Tens of thousands of merchants are sitting on a dead SMS platform, and the migration is the real question, not whether to move.
What happened to Yotpo SMSBump?
Yotpo bought SMSBump in 2020, folded it into “Yotpo Email & SMS,” and then exited the category entirely. The official announcement from CEO Tomer Tagrin framed it as focus: the company is “focusing fully on building the strongest Reviews and Loyalty platform in the market.” The move came with roughly 200 layoffs, about a third of the workforce, per Israeli trade press.
For merchants, the timeline was tight: announcement in August 2025, new sign-ups halted, a feature freeze, then a hard December 31, 2025 shutoff. Yotpo pointed departing customers at two named replacements, Attentive for managed and enterprise accounts, and Omnisend for self-serve. Neither is automatically the right call, and the one most stores actually reach for, Klaviyo, was not on Yotpo’s list at all.
Which SMS app should you migrate to?
The honest answer depends on your size and whether you want SMS alone or SMS plus email. Here is the field, with the storefront speed I measured for each in my App Bloat Detector and the real entry pricing.
| Migrate to | What it is | From (per month) | Blocking time (measured) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Postscript | Shopify-native SMS specialist | $49 minimum spend | 90 ms | Most Shopify stores that want SMS done well |
| Omnisend | Budget SMS + email | Free, then ~$16 | 100 ms | Small stores and Yotpo’s own self-serve pick |
| Attentive | Enterprise SMS platform | Quote only | 110 ms | Large DTC brands with a strategist |
| Klaviyo | SMS + email in one | Email plan + SMS credits | 120 ms | Stores consolidating both channels |
Two things fall out of that table that the vendor pages will not tell you. The tool most people default to, Klaviyo, is the heaviest of the four on the storefront. And the one Yotpo did not even mention, Postscript, is both the lightest and the cheapest clear entry point.
Which SMSBump replacement is lightest on your store?
Postscript, at 90ms of blocking time, then Omnisend at 100ms, Attentive at 110ms, and Klaviyo at 120ms. Every one of them runs client-side JavaScript on your storefront, so every one has a cost. The gap between the lightest and the heaviest is 30ms per page, which stacks with every other app you run.
Postscript is lightest because it ships as a Theme App Extension and leans on Shopify’s own checkout and customer-events surfaces rather than a heavy onsite identity script. Klaviyo is heaviest because klaviyo.js loads onsite forms, popups, and active-on-site tracking on top of SMS. Neither is disqualifying. But if you are migrating anyway, migrating to the lighter tool is a free Core Web Vitals win, and you can confirm it on real users with the CrUX grader before and after.
What do the replacements actually cost?
SMS pricing is deliberately murky, so here are the real numbers.
- Postscript is a $0 platform fee plus a $49 monthly minimum spend on the Starter plan, with US SMS from $0.015 down to $0.009 as you move up tiers ($100 Growth, $500 Professional). Carrier fees pass through on top. Its pricing page publishes all of it.
- Attentive is quote only. There is no public monthly price, just “get a demo,” and it is priced on volume, list size, and AI products. Assume enterprise.
- Klaviyo layers SMS on as a credit-based add-on over its email plan, not a standalone product. The free tier includes $5 of monthly messages, and adding mobile runs roughly $15 a month over the equivalent email-only tier at each contact band, per third-party analysis of its pricing.
- Omnisend is the cheapest real entry, free to start and around $16 a month on its first paid tier, which is why Yotpo routes self-serve customers there.
Postscript’s transparency is the tell. It is the only one of the four that lets you model your true monthly cost before you install, which matters when you are replacing a tool that just proved a platform can disappear on you.

Which one is right for your store?
Match the tool to your stage and your stack, not to whoever ran the loudest ad.
Choose Postscript if you run a normal Shopify store and want SMS done well without a data team. It is the lightest, the cheapest clear entry, Shopify-native, and the one I recommend for most client stores. Choose Klaviyo if you would rather run SMS and email from one tool and already lean on Klaviyo’s flows; you accept the heavier storefront footprint for the consolidation. I compare its email side in Klaviyo vs Omnisend vs Mailchimp. Choose Attentive if you are an enterprise brand that wants a managed program and a strategist, and the quote does not scare you. Choose Omnisend if budget is the constraint and you want SMS and email cheaply.
How do I migrate off SMSBump cleanly?
Move the data first, the app second. The order that keeps you compliant and keeps your revenue:
- Export your subscribers and consent records now. The consent proof matters more than the phone numbers. You need opt-in evidence to stay TCPA compliant on the new platform, and a decommissioned dashboard can pull that access without warning.
- Import with consent intact. Load lists into the new app as opted-in with the original consent timestamp, not as fresh contacts you then re-message blind.
- Rebuild the money automations first. Abandoned checkout, shipping updates, and your welcome flow before any campaign. My SMS vs email recovery breakdown covers which sequence recovers the most.
- Verify speed and delivery. Send a test, confirm it delivers and links resolve, then check your Core Web Vitals did not regress once the new script is live.
The takeaway
- Move now. SMSBump is decommissioned, not winding down. You are running a dead platform if you have not switched.
- Default to Postscript for most stores: lightest at 90ms, transparent from $49, Shopify-native.
- Pick Klaviyo only if you want SMS and email in one, and accept it is the heaviest of the four.
- Export consent records before phone numbers. Compliance, not contacts, is what breaks a rushed migration.
- Check Core Web Vitals after install. Migrating to a lighter app is a free speed win you should confirm on real users.
